Corrections & Transparency

When we get something wrong, we correct it — clearly, promptly, and in public. This page is our record of corrections and the standard we follow.

We work to report accurately. No process is perfect, and errors can occur. When we identify one, we correct it promptly and transparently — at the original page, with a dated note — in alignment with established journalistic standards and best practices for accuracy and corrections. Our full standard is set out in our Corrections Policy.

How we handle it

Every issue is classified, and the classification decides the response. We never change the substance of a story silently.

Clarification

Accurate but could be read the wrong way. We add a note; the facts don’t change.

Correction

A factual error that doesn’t invalidate the piece. Dated note at the top, and we fix the text.

Editor’s Note

A significant error affecting the premise or fairness. A prominent, signed note.

Removal

The story’s central premise is false. We remove it, explain why, and point to accurate coverage — at the original page.

The record

Most recent first. Each entry names the error, the correct facts, and the articles affected.

What was reported

Several articles reported that access to Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 had been restored.

What is correct

It had not been restored; the models remained suspended under a U.S. export-control directive. The affected articles were corrected, and those whose premise depended on the restoration were removed and replaced with an editor’s note.
