According to a BleepingComputer report, a malware family tracked as RedHook is abusing Android’s Wireless Debugging feature to gain shell-level access on compromised Android devices over TCP/IP, without requiring physical USB access. Any Android device running Android 11 or later with Wireless Debugging enabled is potentially exposed to command execution, data exfiltration, and payload staging. This report is currently single-sourced; no vendor advisory or independent threat intelligence corroboration has been confirmed, which tempers confidence in the attribution and scope claims.
