The Security Surface Nobody Is Discussing Enough
Computer use is a significant attack surface expansion. Full stop.
When Claude can navigate a browser, interact with desktop applications, and perform file operations, initiated from a mobile prompt via Dispatch, the threat model changes in ways that matter immediately for practitioners.
The standard LLM security concerns (prompt injection, data exfiltration through outputs) are familiar. Computer use adds a new layer. An agent that can click, type, and navigate on a live desktop can interact with authenticated sessions, access locally stored credentials, execute file operations on the host system, and interact with web applications that don’t have API controls. Prompt injection through a webpage Claude is browsing, where malicious content instructs Claude to perform an action the user didn’t authorize, is a real attack vector, not a theoretical one.
Auto mode is Anthropic’s published response to this. The feature reviews Claude’s actions for risky behavior before execution. That’s a meaningful design choice, it places a behavioral checkpoint between intent and action. Don’t deploy a computer-use agent with ambient privileges on a machine with access to sensitive data or authenticated enterprise sessions.
AutoDream is the first persistent memory management feature for Claude Code. Test it on long-horizon projects where context bloat has been a problem. The value proposition is clear; the performance trade-offs of autonomous memory pruning aren’t yet documented.
