Approximately 60 Iran-aligned and pro-Russian hacktivist clusters documented by Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 are conducting coordinated DDoS, defacement, and hack-and-leak operations against US financial institutions, telecommunications providers, and government agencies across at least 16 countries in direct response to US-Israeli military strikes on Iran. Iran has publicly named US banks as targets, elevating the financial sector threat posture to critical; operations are currently disruptive rather than destructive but the coordination scale and pace signal a sustained campaign. Organizations in targeted sectors should immediately verify DDoS mitigation service activation, enforce rate limiting and geo-blocking where operationally feasible, and implement file integrity monitoring on public-facing web properties.
