AI and Copyright in 2026: The US, UK, and EU Are Each Doing Something Different, Here's the Compliance Map

The US, UK, and EU have each made a significant AI copyright move in the same period, and they're pointing in different directions. For AI companies with cross-border products, the divergence isn't just an academic observation. It determines which training practices are permissible, which outputs require labeling, and which legal risks attach to content generated in each jurisdiction.
